Kerry McKee, Michael's teacher, said: "The lesson is, 'Put a little love in your heart'". As part of Thursday's ceremonies, 36 other children were also adopted and allowed to celebrate with their families in the courtroom.

The boy had been fostered for about a year by Eaton and his wife, Andrea Melvin, before becoming a permanent family member, according to WOOD TV.

"We began the school year as a family".

A whole classroom of children in the USA made a unique field trip this week to witness a classmate's adoption.

Another added, "My name is Lily and I love Michael!"

An entire kindergarten class filed into a courthouse to show support for their classmate during the boy's adoption hearing. In a heartwarming gesture, his classmates filled up the rows of the Kent County courtroom in MI and even told the judge about just how much their classmate meant to them.

Judge Gardener - who wore a special necklace of Christmas decorations for the occasion - told ABC 13's On Your Side: "Sometimes their journeys have been very long".

"I understand we are joined by Michael's kindergarten classroom and teacher", Judge Gardner of the 17th circuit court family division, festively wearing a necklace of Christmas ornaments, said as she began National Adoption Day proceedings in MI.
