What we know about the suspect in the California school shooting
The shooting happened about 20 minutes before the start of school, according to Hannah de Caussin, whose daughter attends Saugus. A hospital reports one female victim is dead, two males are in critical condition and another male is in good condition.
Agents from the New Jersey office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms tweeted Friday night they would be attending the scene. "We wanted to get somewhere safe inside the school, so we all ran up here, ran through the fence and then went through here".
Terrifying footage of the incident was shared online by WPVI-TV videographer Mike Nik, showing players and referees running for cover as the bleachers emptied amid the chaos.
He said that the shooting "was a stark reminder that no community is immune from gun violence, and that we must not ever give up in our efforts to prevent such senseless acts".
"Grateful for our first responders".
