Today's record number of new cases represents a 25 per cent increase from yesterday's number (1,478 new cases) and pushes the seven-day average up to 1,489.
It's the highest number of cases ever recorded in a single day in Ontario.
The previous record high was 1,589 cases on Monday.

Of the more than 900 cases discovered Friday, 153 were reported in the Vancouver Coastal Health region and 649 were found in the Fraser Health region. Seniors continue to be the age group hardest hit by the pandemic.
