What Scotland's Level 4 COVID restrictions means for golfers

Where in Scotland are pubs closed?

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon made the announcement on Tuesday, stating that the following areas would move into Level 4: the City of Glasgow, Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire, East Dunbartonshire, West Dunbartonshire, North Lanarkshire, South Lanarkshire, East Ayrshire, South Ayrshire, Stirling and West Lothian.

The First Minister added that she hoped the affected areas would be able to move to Level 2 "much more quickly than would otherwise be the case".

As part of the Level 4 Covid-19 restrictions, close contact services and mobile close contact service providers can not operate.

Other areas that have been moved into level 4 include Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire, East Dunbartonshire, West Dunbartonshire, North Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire.

At the end of its missions , the Crew Dragon deploys parachutes and then splashes down in water, just as in the Apollo era . The spacecraft is expected to dock with the ISS around 11 pm ET, after a 27-hour journey.

Under the Level 4 measures, restaurants, bars and pubs will be forced to close alongside non-essential shops, with the rules to remain in place until 11 December, Sturgeon said. It also means gyms, hairdressers, beauticians and indoor visit attractions will close.

"Nevertheless, it is extremely disappointing for staff and customers that betting shops in these council areas will now unfortunately have to close, not least because of the excellent anti-Covid measures which have enabled them to operate safely since they re-opened in the summer".

Up to six people, from two different households, can meet in a public venue indoors and children under the age of 12 do not count towards the total number of people.

She said Scotland had once been on track to see 3,000 new COVID-19 cases per day, which had been averted, but that "the overall level of infection remains higher than we need it to be".

Apart from the travel ban, Level Four measures parallel the second lockdown on all of England, imposed at the start of this month, which is provisionally set to end on December 2.

"And the national picture is masking significant regional variation", she added. Recent figures show that in the last 24 hours there have been 37 Covid-19 related deaths in Scotland.

Ms Sturgeon told MSPs this represented a "sombre and distressing milestone".

But coronavirus cases in certain parts of Scotland have plateaued at "stubbornly high levels" and Ms Sturgeon wants to bring those numbers down dramatically in time for Christmas.
