B.C. sets records with 717 new COVID-19 cases, 11 more deaths

COVID-19 gargle test now available for adults in southwest B.C.

Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix also revealed active case counts and hospitalizations were at a record high.

Sadly, 11 more people have died due to the virus, swelling the provincial death toll to 310. In a release, IH says the number of cases associated with that outbreak now stands at 10.

The new cases are largely clustered in the Lower Mainland, with 484 recorded in the Fraser Valley, 177 in Vancouver Coastal, 18 in Interior Health, 16 in Island Health, 21 in Northern Health and one case in a person who resides outside of Canada.

The test is now available across the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island at community COVID-19 collection sites.
