Over 1.1 million people have already voted in the BC election

The tally by the US Elections Project, run by the University of Florida, said on Friday that more than 35 million people have now voted by mail and more than 15 million in person by leaving their ballots in designated drop boxes. The agency is expecting about 500,000 absentee ballots overall this election.

The number of people registered to vote - 308,296 - is the highest since 1996, the first year for which the county has data.

Elections BC will begin counting mail-in votes 13 days after election day on Saturday to ensure no duplicate votes are cast.

The health department is asking people who test positive to notify their close contacts that they may have been exposed. With the most recent trends reported by Jackson County Public Health, that rate is likely to rise.
