More parts of southern Ontario get increased restrictions as COVID cases rise

Canada continued climbing toward the 200,000 mark for COVID-19 cases, with 196,324 confirmed cases reported Saturday across the country. This total involves both students and staff.

Ontario now has a total of 63,713 cases of COVID-19, including 54,686 that are considered resolved and 3,041 deaths.

New Brunswick posted five new cases and Nova Scotia had two, both of which are said to be related to travel outside Atlantic Canada. It should be noted, however, that it is unclear how many infections reported by school boards may have led to others outside of the school system.

Of the 24 outbreaks reported by OPH, eight are now active.
