Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have signed New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman Tim Seifert as a replacement for injured USA pacer Ali Khan for the remaining matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Khan, who himself was roped in by KKR to replace left-arm seamer Harry Gurney, was carrying the strain from the Caribbean Premier League last month. Khan, who had become the first U.S. cricketer to be signed by an Indian Premier League franchise, was ruled out of the tournament on October 7.

Hooda and Jordan though made sure that KXIP stayed in the hunt before the latter got out on the final ball, with scores levelled. Shami replicated what his Indian teammate had done earlier and kept things tight, giving just three from first four balls.

A report in Stuff on Friday had mentioned that Northern Districts, Seifert's domestic team, had "confirmed" that the cricketer "was another absentee [for the Plunket Shield] in coming weeks, summoned to the IPL as a replacement player".

Significantly, before the start of the tournament, KKR suffered a major setback when England fast bowler Harry Garni was ruled out of the tournament due to injury, replacing the team with Ali Khan. Seifert and Ali Khan had been teammate in Caribbean Premier League (CPL) this year as they both played for Trinbago Knight Riders. The Pakistan-born American had picked up eight wickets in the tournament. He was amongst the earliest players performing consistently from the U.S. to be picked in the domestic West Indian T20 League.

The company has not given an exact date of the transition, nor has it specified things users will have to do to make the jump. The update is coming with a few other changes that will affect people who now use Hangouts outside of Gmail.

The 25-year-old Seifert has played three ODIs and 24 T20Is for New Zealand since making his worldwide debut in January 2019. Khan carried the side strain from the CPL into the IPL.

Ali, however, didn't get chance in any of the eight matches that KKR have played so far. He scored 457 runs in T20Is with the average of 22.85 and strike-rate of 139.75.
