The image also shows Saturn's unique elements of features like the colored bands, small atmospheric storms, and a reddish cloud over the northern hemisphere, which is quite different from past observations.
Principal Investigator of the Hubble's Outer Planet Atmospheres Legacy (OPAL) program, Amy Simon from NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center explains, "It's fantastic that even over a few years, we're seeing seasonal changes on Saturn".

Another notable feature of this image is the slight red tint over the northern hemisphere, while the rest of the planet is toned in yellow and brown due to the composition of its atmosphere.
The photo was taken as part of a mission to study the atmospheric dynamics and evolution of our system's gas giants. This could alter the atmospheric circulation or interfere with the amounts of photochemical smog produced. Just how and when the rings formed remains one of our solar system's biggest mysteries. For Saturn, astronomers track the storms and shifting weather patterns. "Many astronomers agree that there is no satisfactory theory that explains how rings could have formed within just the past few hundred million years".
NASA experts also noted the south pole in the image - which sports a blue hue - reflecting changes in Saturn's winter hemisphere.
"It's incredible that even over a few years, we're seeing seasonal changes on Saturn", Dr. Simon said.

The company believes that improved durability - drop and scratch resistance - is an important purchasing factor. Victus is a Latin noun that means "nourishment" or "way of living".
In its latest quest to explore the universe, NASA's Hubble Space Telescope gave us a glimpse of summertime on Saturn. NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, manages the telescope.
The Hubble telescope was launched on April 24, 1990, via the space shuttle Discovery from Kennedy Space Centre in Florida. STScI is operated for NASA by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy in Washington, D.C.
