A potential vaccine by major phamacuetical company Pfizer and German partner BioNTech has shown promising results, and is expected to advance to the next trial phase by the end of July. The small study triggered stronger immune responses in recipients. Dr. David Agus joined "CBS This Morning" with the latest on the global vaccine effort.

"Our first vaccine candidate is eliciting antibody levels to neutralize the virus that is equivalent to or better than what you see in people who have had COVID-19". At the 10 µg or 30 µg dose levels, the scientists said adverse reactions, including low grade fever, were more common after the second dose than the first dose.

He said larger trials were being prepared to show whether this translates into protection against a real infection.
