Rihanna donates security gear to NY hospitals

Coronavirus (COVID-19) has left more than 546 thousand people infected in 188 countries around the world; more than 24 thousand people have lost their lives.

It's not clear how much Rihanna donated to the state, but she also previously donated $5 million to coronavirus response efforts across the globe.

The funding, announced on Saturday, will particularly support those working on the frontlines of response to the COVID-19 pandemic, especially those working with marginalized communities in the USA, the Caribbean, and Africa.

Rihanna has strong philanthropic ties to her homeland.

"Never has it been more important or urgent to protect and prepare marginalized and underserved communities-those who will be hit hardest by this pandemic." said Justine Lucas, executive director of the Clara Lionel Foundation.

It will also provide personal protective gear, training, and respiratory supplies to healthcare workers. It doesn't matter who you're or the place you're from, this pandemic will have an effect on us all.
