Trump Praises Attorney General Barr For 'Taking Charge' Of Roger Stone Case

Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Andy McCarthy on Thursday cautioned President Trump about weighing in on prosecutorial matters, such as the recommended sentence for former adviser Roger Stone.

The Justice Department said the sentencing recommendation was made Monday night before Trump's tweet and prosecutors had not spoken to the White House about it.

U.S. Attorney General William Barr speaks about the Justice Department's Russian Federation investigation into the 2016 presidential campaign, during the Wall Street Journal's annual CEO Council meeting, at the Four Seasons Hotel on December 10, 2019 in Washington, DC.

For most of Saturday, warnings of wind and rain are in place across Wales, southern Scotland and the whole of England. It warned of likely power cuts and said cancellations to public transport and hard driving conditions were likely.

Attorney General William Barr is about to face some of his harshest critics in Congress.

Stone was convicted of seven felonies involving obstruction of justice and aggravated witness tampering for his threats to kill one of the witnesses.

"I don't want to say that yet".

Lions GM denies Stafford trade rumor: '100% false'
The response to the report, which stated the team has been having talks for weeks, was a denial from General Manager Bob Quinn . Turns out, the Staffords have nothing to worry about. "100% False!" Quinn wrote in a text message to the Free Press.

The Democrats said they plan to ask Barr about the department's decision this week to overrule four federal prosecutors and lower the amount of prison time it would seek for Trump's confidant Roger Stone.

The big picture: Liu was confirmed in September 2017 to lead the largest USA attorney's office in the country, overseeing a number of politically charged prosecutions that included the case against Trump associates Roger Stone, Michael Flynn, Paul Manafort and other spinoffs from the Mueller investigation. But Trump's outrageous comments about the original sentence recommendation - and his history of interfering in the administration of justice - require that the decision be investigated. "It has everything to do with these prosecutors who are acting like their own little team, independent of the rule of law, to target President Trump, to try to vindicate the Mueller scam and slap at Trump after his vindication by acquittal in the impeachment thing".

Stone's motion for a new trial was denied by the judge in his case in a ruling unsealed on Wednesday.

Coronavirus: Ninth confirmed case in the UK
Prof Paul Cosford, from Public Health England, told the BBC his teams were doing their best to contain the spread. Health officials in England are reporting the 9th COVID-19 case in the country and the first in London .

Democrats in the GOP-led Senate also called Wednesday for an investigation in the upper chamber into the DOJ recommending an amended sentence for Stone, with some even calling for Attorney General Barr to resign over the matter. It appears he continues to work for the Justice Department in his earlier capacity with the Maryland U.S. Attorney's Office. A mass exodus from a case is also rare, though the tumult did conjure an episode from last summer when Justice Department lawyers abruptly left a lawsuit over whether a citizenship question could be added to the census. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., former attorney general of California and a former federal prosecutor, sent a letter to Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., asking that he immediately schedule a hearing for Barr to testify "so that the committee and the American people can understand the Justice Department's decision to overrule its career prosecutors in this case".
