Natalie Portman used her Oscars red carpet look to acknowledge female directors

Natalie Portman is not about to let the names of female directors snubbed by the Academy be forgotten.

And while the Black Swan actor bagged ample praises over her tribute, there were many who slapped labels on her of being a 'hypocrite'. In the Academy Awards' 92-year history, only five women have ever been nominated for Best Director, and only one Kathryn Bigelow has ever won.

Natalie Portman made a statement with her Oscars outfit - a specially made Dior cape embroidered with the names of the female directors who were snubbed this year.

Official gameplay reveal trailer released for People Can Fly's upcoming game, Outriders
Players will create their own custom characters to travel across a vast variety of environments on this extremely hostile planet. Outriders combines gunplay with violent abilities and "an arsenal of increasingly twisted weaponry and gear-sets".

Neither McGowan or Portman come out of this situation smelling of roses, but McGowan is right.

Actress Rose McGowan has slammed Natalie Portman's Oscars protest. "Fearless is a term I more strongly associate with actions like those of the women who have been testifying against Harvey Weinstein the last few weeks, under incredible pressure", Portman said in the statement.

What do you make of Portman's dress and the message she wanted to send?

Red Sox, Dodgers Finalize Mookie Betts Trade
The trade sending Red Sox stars Mookie Betts and David Price to the Los Angeles Dodgers is complete, team officials said Monday. We already knew that Downs was named for Derek Jeter , the former Yankees captain and National Baseball Hall of Fame inductee.

She added that "there is no law that says you need to hire women, work with women, or support women".

Portman has not responded to McGowan's Facebook post as of this writing. "Courageous is a term I more strongly associate with actions like those of the women who have been testifying against Harvey Weinstein the last few weeks, under incredible pressure", she said in a statement to Variety. "Actresses who supposedly stand for women, but in reality do not do much at all".

"Embracing fearlessness and refinement, Natalie Portman shines on the #Oscars red carpet in a #CartierHighJewelry ring set with a yellow diamond, diamonds, black lacquer and yellow gold from the #ColoraturadeCartier collection and #ClashdeCartier earrings in pink gold and diamonds". The ensemble looked ordinary, but upon closer look, you can see that the actress had names written across the cape's lapel. Two years ago, she presented the Best Director award alongside famed director Ron Howard.

It is for the second consecutive year that no women directors have been nominated in the Best Director category at the awards show, for which The Academy has been heavily criticised.
