Broncos fire offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello after one season in Denver

The Denver Broncos have made a decision to part ways with offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello.

"After a lot of reflection and discussion after the season, I realized that a move to the offensive coordinator is ultimately the best thing for our team", said Vic Fangio, Broncos head coach, in a statement on Sunday.

"Rich is an intense instructor with a terrific future in advance of him". Denver was the only National Football League team this season to record the last five on points, overall misdemeanors, three percent devaluation and red zone success. "I appreciate all his hard work and thank him for his contributions to the Broncos". The Broncos also have a promising young rookie in Josh Allen who could use a bit of coaching from a veteran coach like Shurmur.

Denver (7-9) was 4-1 with Lock as the starter to close the season during Fangio's first season as coach.

Continuity be damned. After cycling through multiple coaches and schemes in recent years, the Broncos will again alter their offense with a new coordinator - their fifth in as many years.

The Broncos' OC job has been as much of a turnstile of late as head coach and quarterback with Rick Dennison (2016), Mike McCoy (2017) Bill Musgrave (2018) and Scangarello all flailing in the years since the Broncos won Super Bowl 50 in Peyton Manning's final season.
