LabPadre, a YouTube channel that provides a live broadcast of the Boca Chica test site, captured raw images of the explosion, showing the upper section of the rocket flying skyward and plummeting to the ground. The founder added that the prototype will surely take off and fly to a total of 65,000 feet, about 20 kilometres and come back to earth in a span of one or two months. The Mk architecture is made up of the 50-meter tall Starship and the Super Heavy rocket, both of which will be reused, according to SpaceX CEO Musk, to make spaceflight more affordable and further space exploration.

On Wednesday, SpaceX was conducting a pressurization test at its Boca Chica, Texas site, when the next-generation launch system burst apart.

SpaceX is developing the massive rocket ship to carry cargo and passengers beyond Earth orbit to destinations such as Mars - or even on suborbital trips between destinations on Earth.

After the test mishap, Musk downplayed the incident, replying to a Twitter comment about what this means for the spacecraft's development.

In a statement sent by email to Gizmodo, SpaceX ignored the incident.

Then, if all goes as planned, the combination of the advanced prototype and booster will be used to fly a crew of humans into orbital space and back sometime next year.
