Johnson, Grassley ask State Department for Hunter Biden docs

Later, both Biden and Archer scheduled meetings with senior State Department officials, according to email records obtained by Solomon.

Republican Sens. Chuck Grassley and Ron Johnson are calling on Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to release internal State Department documents regarding Hunter Biden and Burisma Holdings, the Ukrainian energy firm that is at the center of the impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump.

Hunter Biden joined Burisma's board in May 2014, around the same time that Joe Biden took over as the Obama administration's main liaison to Ukraine.

"In April 2014, Vice President Biden reportedly became the "public face of the administration's handling of Ukraine". Biden bragged in January 2018 that he forced Poroshenko to fire Shokin by threatening to withhold $1 billion in US loan assistance to Ukraine. "Archer that working with Burisma was unacceptable" and '[t] he lack of judgment in this matter was a major catalyst for Mr. Heinz ending his business relationships with Mr.

T-Mobile said it wasn't an internal issue but rather a problem stemming from a third-party vendor that also affected its networks. According to a Sprint spokesperson, the issue was caused due to a "maintenance update" and was resolved soon after it occurred.

Grassley, head of the Committee on Finance, asked for all information on interactions related to Hunter Biden, several of his business associates, and affiliated business ties including those with Ukrainian gas firm, Burisma Holdings, where he was a board member until this year.

In the February 24, 2016 email, first reported by journalist John Solomon, the consultant, Karen Tramontano, reached out to request a meeting with Catherine Novelli, formerly the undersecretary of state for energy issues. Tramontano mentioned Biden in the email to get a meeting with Novelli about Burisma, according to the letter.

Solomon revealed this week that Burisma Holdings, Hunter Biden's Ukrainian natural gas company communicated with the Obama State Department to help end the corruption investigation in the 2016 cycle one month before Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin was sacked from the probe into Burisma holdings. At the time, the prosecutor, Viktor Shokin, had open investigations into Burisma and its owner.

Grassley is also requesting information about a meeting that documents suggest took place between Secretary of State John Kerry and Archer on March 2, 2016. The senators now want to know if the meeting took place, who attended, and what was discussed.

In the February 24, 2016 e-mail cited above, a State Department employee wrote that, "Tramontano would like to talk with U/S Novelli about getting a better understanding of how the USA came to the determination that [Burisma] is corrupt". Is this accurate? Please explain.

The senators cited newly-released State Department emails obtained through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, that were published and reported on by investigative journalist John Solomon and showed numerous meetings were set up between individuals linked to Biden and Burisma with State Department officials during the Obama administration - when Biden's father, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, was vice president. If not, why not?
