Appearing on "America's Newsroom" with anchors Sandra Smith and Jon Scott, McCarthy argued that Israel was well within its rights to block entry to the two Democratic congresswomen.

But Omar urged fellow lawmakers to visit Israel to conduct congressional oversight to see what happens with "millions of dollars" the USA sends to Israel in aid.

Omar's comments follow Israel's decision to bar her and Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib from entering the occupied Palestinian territories, which they meant to visit on a congressional delegation.

That visa was conditional on the MI lawmaker vowing to not take part in promoting boycotts of Israel during her stay. "What I didn't anticipate was for that discrimination to come from the president of the United States", she wrote of Trump.
