Kate and William clash with celebrities at King's Cup regatta

Royal fans were very excited at the surprise appearance from the royal children, who were seen watching with some friends and their grandparents Carole and Michael Middleton.

The young royal beamed with delight throughout the event and flashed a gap-toothed grin, showing that he's lost even more of his baby teeth.

Not long beforehand, Charlotte made the crowd erupt with laughter when she stuck her tongue out as Kate encouraged her to wave.

Kate knelt down to point out the people to Charlotte and seemingly suggested she wave to them.

For the outing, Charlotte sported a precious blue dress with a white collar.

The King's Cup, a trophy first presented by King George V at Cowes' Royal Yacht Squadron in 1920, was awarded to Bear Grylls' winning team.

The Mayo man helped beat off competition from celebrities and the upper echelons of United Kingdom society, including Prince Willian and his wife Kate.

Kate Middleton competed in the sailing regatta, as did Prince William.

The charities being represented this year include Child Bereavement UK, Centrepoint, London's Air Ambulance Charity 30th Anniversary Campaign, and Tusk - four of which are the duke's patronages.

The pictures showed that it was a fun day for the Royal family at the King's Cup regatta.

The event was due to take place tomorrow (Friday) but anticipated weather forced organisers to push things forward by 24 hours.

The charity, Tusk Trust, which had Bear Grylls at the helm, won the first race, with Prince William coming in third and Kate placing seventh.
