Trejo, 75, was interviewed by local affiliate KABC-TV that he was on his way to an auto mechanic in L.A.'s Sylmar neighborhood when he saw a driver run a red light and plow into another vehicle, which flipped over onto its roof in the intersection.
Trejo said it appeared that a auto had run a red light, crashing into the vehicle carrying the boy and his grandmother.
Trejo, who's known for his iconic roll as Machete in Robert Rodriguez's action film series, says he saw one woman apparently not paying attention when she ran a red light.
He managed to get the boy out of the auto unscathed while firefighters worked on freeing his grandmother, who was trapped in the driver's seat. The boy was strapped in a vehicle seat and Trejo climbed into the mangled metal.

But Brown has attempted to use his old and outlawed model throughout training camp before his announcement on Friday. Brown has no filed a grievance against the National Football League and will meet with an arbitrator next week.
Trejo revealed his work with special needs children helped him keep the child calm while rescue workers attempted to free his grandmother from the driver's seat.

He later told a photographer at the scene that "The only thing that saved the little kid was his auto seat". The woman, identified by media outlets as Monica Jackson, told NBC Los Angeles that the mother was in a lot of pain but repeatedly told them to help her child. "I said "OK, we have to use our superpowers.' So he screamed 'superpowers" and we started yelling 'superpowers.' I said do this, with the muscles [Trejo flexes his muscles]".
Trejo said he and the child "got kind of a bond".
