A lot of this conversation comes down to what you think is supposed to be "normal" for Major League Baseball.
The All-Star believes the baseballs have been altered because MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred wants to see more offense. He says it's false. The ball creates less drag, has thicker laces and is actually more round (I'll include links to the excellent work others have done on these subjects at the bottom of this article).
I'm a big statistics guy in baseball, so I like to compare historical numbers for guys like Mike Trout and Mickey Mantle, or Justin Verlander and Nolan Ryan. They own the f-- company. Why isn't this getting MORE attention? Owning Rawlings means producing and controlling the baseball ensures sustainability of the sport and quality control. But when Manfred's favorite lieutenants - Joe Torre, Jim Leyland and at least one other Major League Baseball official - decided it was time to stop by the clubhouse for a visit, it was safe to guess they weren't bringing along scrapbooks to reminisce about the 2012 ALCS.
"Strategically, we see esports has kind of been a weak spot for us", Manfred admitted at the SportTechie State of the Industry 2019 conference back in February. There's an obvious conflict of interest here. "What there is support for is that the drag on the baseball is a little less and with less draft it goes farther". That's cryptic and shady. The ball is different, but Manfred claims no knowledge of why. This is despite giving up a league-high 26 home runs.

But I think we rode well as a team, we were always in a good position and communicating really well, so it's a good day. Viviani has now posted stage wins at all three Grand Tours, including four at the Giro and three at the Spanish Vuelta.
"I don't really think they're juicing the baseball but, like I said before, I really couldn't tell because I am not facing any pitches".
Manfred can say the All-Star Game wasn't traded for Wahoo's disappearance, and that's likely true. They should be, too. "They've been using juiced balls in the Home Run Derby forever".
But once again.Manfred lying! "It's not the worst thing in the world." . It's also fair to point out that his home ballpark is an excellent home run hitter's environment. "Let's not forget that our fan data suggests fans like home runs". "Major League Baseball's turning this game into a joke".
Scientists, Manfred said, are looking into those issues. "The ball is hot, but come on, you think these home runs are just because of the balls?"
'American Horror Story: 1984' Gives First Look In 80s Summer Camp Clip
This year's cycle is said to be inspired by the summer camp slasher genre , which was insanely popular during the '80s. For the first time, the Glee alum is reuniting with executive producer Ryan Murphy for the show.
Cubs starter Jon Lester, a 14-year veteran, previously said something is up with the balls, as well.
"The ball suddenly changed and I don't know why", Clark said. Despite this ruling which was made to restore a more equitable balance between the bat and the ball, large scores built on six hitting are still the norm in T20 games. "It seems nearly like the ones they use in the Home Run Derby with the way it flies". Baseball games aren't supposed to look like football scores, which is exactly what it looked like.
Verlander, who's given up more home runs than any other pitcher this season, was bothered by the fact that the MLB was acting like Rawlings was going about the design of the ball strictly on their own doing and Major League Baseball was simply going along unknowingly. He's an idiot. He should be finding ways to solve the issue and he should be transparent.
