But now we've learned, via THR, that actor Joe Taslim has been cast in the film as Sub-Zero.

Little is known about what bone-crunching, side-splitting, blood-curdling action awaits us for the James Wan-produced Mortal Kombat movie, but one thing is for sure: Sub-Zero is getting in on the fun. It did make Hollywood casting directors take notice, however, and led to appearances by Taslim in such mainstream blockbuster fare as Fast & Furious 6 and Star Trek Beyond. That being said, the studio behind the newest movie has said that this installment in the franchise will have nothing to do with Mortal Kombat films of the 90s.

Netflix in ratings record with 'Stranger Things' S3
As the series continues to grow and appeal to more viewers, it's no doubt that we'll be getting a fourth season of the hit show. Ross Duffer chimed in to add: "Assuming there's a season four, obviously the question of who that American is in that cell".

Something that can't be said about the ill-fated Mortal Kombat adaptation of '95, which is arguably up there competing with Super Mario Bros. for the worst video game movie ever made. Also, fans now are anticipating what other characters could also be included in the movie. Taslim is set to join the production when it begins filming later this year in Australia. The latest entry, Mortal Kombat 11, hit shelves in April and handed the franchise the biggest debut in its history.

The character Sub-Zero has the powers of cold and ice and has a long-running rivalry with Scorpion. Greg Russo penned the most recent draft.

United Kingdom ambassador to USA resigns amid Trump row
February 2017 - May says Trump's order temporarily banning people from a number of Muslim-majority countries is "wrong" and "divisive".

Filmmakers - who include James Wan, serving as a producer this time around - will have plenty of material to work with, considering the game's longevity.

Regardless of which Sub-Zero Taslim will be playing in the film, I suspect that most fans would agree that his casting is a home run. The web-short from screenwriter Oren Uziel gained enough popularity to spawn the web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy.

Darroch resigns as ambassador to the US
The First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon tweeted that it was "shameful" the diplomat had "effectively been forced out". Prime Minister Theresa May and other British politicians have praised Darroch and condemned the leak in recent days.

No release window for the Mortal Kombat reboot has been announced yet.
