Campaign Recap: Biden Down in New Poll, Buttigieg Shows Funding Increase

Harris soars, Biden spirals following Democratic debate: poll

The poll shows Former Vice President Joe Biden has lost support among African-Americans after taking heat on racial issues during the Democratic party's first debate.

Biden remains at the head of the pack of Democratic presidential contenders - though barely - in a Quinnipiac University national poll released Tuesday.

The survey included 460 Democrat and Democratic-leaning voters and was carried out June 28-July 1.

Regardless of how they intend to vote, Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents nationally think Biden would be the best leader and has the best chance of beating Trump in the Quinnipiac poll.

Monday looks hot with only a slight chance for rain
Monday: Mostly cloudy with a chance for showers in the morning, and a chance for some scattered storms during the afternoon. Wednesday and Thursday look dry as temps warm to near 90 inland by the 4th as beach temps hold closer to 80.

The CNN poll, also conducted after the debates, similarly showed Harris in second place, five points behind Biden nationally, with a margin of error of three points, though The New York Times notes that surges in polling immediately following debates can be temporary. Harris also essentially catches Biden among black Democratic voters, a historically strong voting bloc for Biden, with Biden at 31 percent and Harris at 27 percent.

Of those who watched or followed news coverage, 41 percent said Harris performed the best in the debates.

A CNN poll from May had Harris at only 8 percent.

Kamala Harris called Biden out on his opposition to busing - something Harris said she directly participated in and benefited from as a child. "Biden's once-commanding lead has evaporated", she added. Results among the full sample have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.

The green space, which she co-designed with Andrée Davies and Adam White, was originally part of the Chelsea Flower Show. However, if you don't have three grand to splash out on a dress (lol), then we have found the ideal dupe on ASOS.

Ahead of the debate, Biden had come under harsh criticism for boasting about his ability to form working relationships in past decades with segregationist Democratic Sens. In that poll, Harris was only at 7 percent. The ABC News/Washington Post poll found 45% of respondents believe Biden is best equipped to beat Trump. But among women, Harris has a slight edge with 24 percent to Biden's 22 percent.

There's no meaningful difference in Biden's support across debate-watching groups, and Sanders gets the booby prize - higher support among those who did not watch the debates, 26%, vs. 15% among those who watched the debate in which he appeared and 10% among those who watched both nights. Those with no opinion dropped sharply, 35% in April compared with 19% now (and 6% when the full list is read).

"To win in Iowa, you have to be able to woo the supporters of other candidates who drop out or that don't reach the 15% threshold at the caucus", says David Paleologos, director of Suffolk University's Political Research Center.
