Netflix Shares First Images Of Its Live-Action The Witcher Series

Netflix Heads to Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con 2019

Netflix has shown off the first proper promotional images for its upcoming TV series based on popular RPG The Witcher. It was already known that Superman actor Henry Cavill will play lead role and thus takes on the role of Geralt or Rivia. We got a better look at Henry Cavill's Geralt, as well as at Anya Cholatra's Yennefer and Freya Allan's Ciri.

Starring Henry Cavill, the main event is a teaser poster featuring, well, Geralt's back and the series logo, along with the tagline for the series; 'The worst monsters are the ones we create'. I dunno, that giant toad in Hearts of Stone was pretty disgusting. In the books, Geralt tells someone: "Two swords, one of silver, one of iron, one for monsters and one for men". Hopefully it ends up going the way of the animated Castlevania series and not almost every other video game to live-action adaptation out there.

Organised mass protests: Sudan protesters call for civil disobedience on July 14
Men and women flashing victory signs and carrying Sudanese flags flooded the streets of Al-Sahafa neighbourhood of Khartoum . The State's news agency, quoting a health ministry official, had reported the death toll at 7 and 181 injured this morning.

There is still no official release date for The Witcher yet, but the show is expected to air sometime towards the end of 2019. Further, the Geralt in this series is meant to be a younger, less weathered versio0n of the character depicted in the video game (but still a badass hunter nonetheless).

We're interested in Netflix's adaptation of The Witcher. "But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a unsafe secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together", according to a synopsis from Netflix. However, the company and the series' cast will be hosting a panel at the San Diego Comic Con on 19 July, so we'll probably hear more on that day.
