Turkey's deal with Russian Federation for the S-400 system is reportedly worth $2.5bn (£1.96bn) and Ankara has previously rejected USA offers to sell them the Patriot alternative in 2013 and 2017.

Washington, which had previously refused to sell Patriot missile systems to Ankara, earlier warned Turkey against using the S-400 on grounds that it would allegedly prove incompatible with North Atlantic Treaty Organisation systems.

Turkey planned to deploy the first batch of fighters by November, alongside the Russian S-400 air defense systems that are due for delivery in summer.

On Monday, Demir said Turkey responded to the latest U.S. Patriot offer and was waiting for a response, but did not elaborate further.

Asked if the surface-to-air missiles will be delivered in July, he said: "Yes, that's what we plan somehow".

Training by Turkish pilots on F-35 fighter jets was recently stopped at a USA air base in Arizona, officials said on Monday. There is no middle ground.

"There is no future for Turkey having both Russian weapons and American F-35s".

Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said on May 22 that Turkish military personnel were receiving training in Russia to use the S-400, and that Russian personnel may go to Turkey.

Turkey seems to be moving ahead with the S-400 purchase, regardless of the United States warnings.

President Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday that it was "out of the question" for Turkey to back away from its deal with Moscow and added that the United States had not "given us an offer as good as the S-400s" on the Patriot systems.
