Oracle and Microsoft team up to connect Azure and Oracle Cloud

Microsoft and Oracle have announced a cloud interoperability partnership enabling customers to migrate and run mission-critical enterprise workloads across Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud. Now linked to Azure via highs-speed networks, Oracle is promoting scenarios where its business applications can now run on Azure while accessing its cloud autonomous database.

Both companies, as providers of public cloud services to organizations, have been competitors, but they've nevertheless had a close partnership for the last six years around their hosted applications and services offerings.

Microsoft and Oracle, longtime enterprise software rivals, are teaming up in the cloud to expand the services they can offer enterprises and to bolster their positions in a cloud services market dominated by Amazon Web Services.

China's panda diplomacy puts a smile on 'best friend' Putin's face
The strategic China-Russia East-Route Natural Gas Pipeline project will begin supplying gas within this year, the ministry said. In 2018, Chinese tourists made 1.8 million trips to Russia while Russian travelers made almost 2 million trips to China.

The deal gives Oracle customers a much-needed option when it comes to the cloud, says Patrick Moorhead, principal analyst with Moor Insights and Strategy. "But Azure IaaS is not a practical solution for customers with complex Oracle usages such as complicated database configurations using Oracle's RAC or high-performance Engineered Systems, or with similarly complicated Oracle application stacks-i.e., Oracle e-Business Suite, etc. Technologies such as RAC simply aren't possible in non-Oracle clouds".

By working with Microsoft, Oracle leverages the database services it is known for and Microsoft's expansive customer base. Taken together, Azure and Oracle Cloud offer customers a one-stop shop for all the cloud services and applications they need to run their entire business.

The direct network link is already available in Oracle's Ashburg, Virginia cloud facility and Azure US East. (If what I hear from companies is true, there is still a long cloud adoption road ahead).

Justine Damond died after she called 911 for police help and approached a police vehicle outside her house. Prosecutors argued there was no evidence Noor faced a threat that justified the use of deadly force.

"As the cloud of choice for the enterprise, with over 95 percent of the Fortune 500 using Azure, we have always been first and foremost focused on helping our customers thrive on their digital transformation journeys", said Scott Guthrie, executive VP of Microsoft's Cloud and AI division.

Oracle Cloud is primarily a software- and database-as-a-service provider. That will allow administrators to control which applications can use what resources in one place, plus log into both cloud platforms using the same credentials instead of separate accounts.

The single sign-on (SSO) and identity management support via Azure AD across both Oracle's and Microsoft's cloud services appears to be new. "Our deep experience with these two strategic vendors has yielded consistently stable and performant application deployments", said Ken Braud, senior vice president and CIO at Halliburton. "Customers who bought into Oracle apps or database can run their apps on Azure".

As Tariff Threat Looms, US-Mexico Discuss Migration
Trump is facing pressure from Congress to move away from tariffs because of the impact they could have on the US economy. Under such a plan, the United States would swiftly deport Guatemalan asylum seekers who set foot on USA soil to Mexico.
