Instagram’s IGTV now supports horizontal videos

Instagram's IGTV Gives up on Vertical Videos

Instagram IGTV takes on YouTube offering landscape video format

Instagram says the change comes because of creator feedback and because some viewers are finding landscape videos on IGTV already but haven't been able to turn their phones to watch them in fullscreen. Similarly, we've heard from viewers who come across landscape videos in IGTV but want to watch them in a more natural way.

Now, however, a dedicated hub for long-form portrait-mode video won't appear anywhere at all.

With the update, horizontal videos will fill more of the screen by turning the smartphone on its side.

Instagram has become a face of recognition for a dancer, singer, blogger, Youtuber, etc. where they can share their videos and get love from us but the confinement provided by IG of just 1 minute makes one sick to promote their whole video out on the Instagram which is surely more than a minute or so.

IGTV will now feature both landscape and vertical videos. The said capability has always been requested by numerous users who find it inconvenient to view their favorite videos with the platform's vertical video format.

Instagram TV has been around for a year and the company has now made a decision to add in support for landscape videos. "It enabled creativity to flourish and engagement to rise - and we believe the same will happen again with IGTV", the company said.

Minutes into the second half Neuer raced to the edge of the area to save a one-on-one with Emil Forsberg while Hummels' drive forced Gulacsi to dive low to his right.

Part of the struggle to publish on IGTV was the vertical video optimization.

The company is even comparing IGTV giving up on vertical videos with Instagram moving away from just letting users posting square photos back in 2015.

Instagram suggests the change will bring more videos to the platform from creators who were reluctant to make the vertical switch, along with expanding for genres that don't work as well in vertical, such as sports.
