Several tech companies including Samsung Electronics Co. and Microsoft Corp. have built homemade alternatives to Android but they never caught on with smartphone users.

Microsoft has removed Huawei products from its Azure Stack cloud server catalogue, a week after the Chinese company was blacklisted by the United States government on national security grounds, although Microsoft has yet to comment on whether it will revoke Huawei's license to use its Windows operating system.

Following Google's announcement, the USA announced it would temporarily ease the trade restrictions, allowing Huawei a 90-day license to buy U.S. tech, so that it can maintain existing telecoms networks and provide software updates to Huawei smartphones.

Japanese firm Toshiba said later Thursday it had resumed shipment of all products to Huawei hours after announcing a temporary halt to check whether US-made parts were involved.

Taipei-based carrier Chunghwa Telecom said it will continue to sell products it offers from Huawei, despite its halt in procurement, according to the statement Wednesday.

Mobile are also said to be delaying the launch of upcoming Huawei smartphones to protect their operations amid security concerns.
