'Call of Duty' 2019 to be 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare'

The new COD 2019 game will be called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, will be a soft reboot

Jason Schreier confirms the next Call of Duty is called “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare”

No number, no extra subtitle, just Modern Warfare.

In a frankly bonkers sounding decision, reports from Kotaku's Jason Schreier and YouTuber TheLongSensation state that this year's Call of Duty won't actually be called Modern Warfare 4, it will be called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare instead.

According to Schreier, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be a "soft reboot".

Call of Duty: MW2 was revealed on May 22, 2009 and MW3 on May 23, 2011. The series has been annualized for the better part of a decade now, and fans have been anxiously waiting for a reveal, with rumors of another Modern Warfare game circulating for quite a while.

Rihanna ouvre son pop-up store Fenty à Paris

The news comes from Twitter user and YouTuber LongSensation, who simply tweeted the name along with the addition of "I'm not joking".

You can basically set your clock by Activision's Call of Duty release schedule, so the big question in the lead up these reveals is never "if?" but "what?" As a result the removal of the "4" in the latest title makes it officially a different name. That being said Jason Schreier's track record is pretty much flawless, so it does seem safe to bet on this information being correct. With E3 2019 looming large - it's only a couple of weeks away now - could we be seeing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare making its debut?
