William Barr doubles down on campaign spying claims, slams Democrats

Fox News Poll: Five takeaways on the Russia investigation post-Mueller report

What We Know About The Justice Department's Spygate Investigations

In a conversation with Fox News' Bill Hemmer on "America's Newsroom", Barr suggested that he wanted to get to the bottom of whether "government officials abused their power and put their thumb on the scale" during the Russian Federation investigation.

While this trip may advance one of Trump's policy goals, it also conveniently places Barr out of the country even as congressional Democrats attempt to get his testimony regarding Mueller's report on the Trump-Russia scandal, as well as an unredacted version of the report itself.

"It's part of the usual political circus that's being played out". The comment led to accusations from Democrats that Barr was acting more like the president's personal attorney than the nation's highest-ranking law enforcement official.

Barr appointed experienced prosecutor John Durham to look into the origins of the investigation into President Trump and determine whether Brennan and Comey's targeting were legitimate. Barr said he wouldn't "speculate" on when such alleged spying exactly started.

The findings come after the University of MI settled with former gymnastics doctor Larry Nasser's victims for $500 million. University alumnus Kent Kilgore, who says that he is a victim, said he wants the school to take full responsibility.

"I think there's a misconception out there that we know a lot about what happened".

Mimi Rocah, a former assistant USA attorney in the Southern District of NY, tweeted that Trump's latest broadside at those responsible for what he claims was "spying" on his campaign "terrifies" her.

Trump has long called for the investigators to be investigated and complained of "spying" on his campaign.

In the Fox interview, Barr said "some very unusual developments" took place during the period between Election Day and Inauguration Day, including a January 2017 briefing that intelligence officials gave the president at Trump Tower. He added, "I can't imagine any world where we wouldn't take a look and make sure that was done properly". After his name hit the press, journalists covering the Spygate scandal quickly realized that Durham was the prosecutor investigating former FBI lawyer James Baker for potential illegal leaks.

Rep. John Ratcliffe, R-Texas, believes Attorney General Bill Barr will get to the bottom of the Russian Federation collusion blame game between former CIA Director John Brennan and former FBI Director James Comey.

The Justice Department's inspector general is investigating the probe's origins and the use of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, which allows the government to conduct surveillance in some of the most sensitive investigations.

People have to find out what the government was doing during that period. "So that's just another good decision by Bill Barr in terms of how we're going to get the answers to these questions that many of us have been asking the questions for", he said.

"That's not the term I would use", Wray said when asked if the word "spying" describes what the Federal Bureau of Investigation does when it investigates alleged mobsters or terrorists. Barr replied, "The position today appears to be that it began in July, but I do not know the answer to the question".
