After Thursday's launch, South Korea's military said it had stepped up monitoring and security in case of another launch, and was working with the United States to get additional information on the missiles involved. But there have been no signs of the others, according to North Korea's official position.

The defense ministry in Seoul has expressed concern about Saturday's launch and urged Pyongyang to halt acts that escalate military tensions on the divided peninsula.

In an interview with the KBS television network, Moon also said Seoul will explore various options to help revive the talks, including providing food aid to the North and pushing for his fourth summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

"That's all there is to say", Peskov noted, commenting on US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo's statement linking North Korean leader's visit to Russian Federation to drills involving new tactical guided missiles, which took place in the country nine days later.

However, the talks collapsed when the USA refused to lift sanctions. Subsequent analysis of the flight path suggested the rogue state may have fired the weapons from mobile launchers some distance from the base. There's been true serendipity this week between the North Korea and USA tests, even if the timing is supposed to be accidental.

Kim in a New Year's speech said he hopes to continue his nuclear summitry with Trump, but would seek a "new way" if the United States persists with sanctions and pressure against North Korea.

Denuclearization talks with North Korea have stalled, however, after Trump and Kim met in February for a second summit but failed to reach an agreement.
