Teuvo Teravainen and Greg McKegg scored 66 seconds apart in the second period, and the Carolina Hurricanes beat the New York Islanders 5-2 on Friday night to sweep their second-round series.

The Islanders blew through the first round in four games as they swept the Pittsburgh Penguins in dominant fashion.

The Canes have yet to lose a game on home ice.

They tweeted that with the caption, "We won tag, too!" It's easy to say that now because of this but our goal wasn't to be one of the four teams remaining when we started this. Three of the Islanders' five goals during the series came on the power play.

Here are our takeaways from this series. They had been 5-1 all-time in Game 4s when trailing a series 3-0.

Golfer Tiger Woods to Receive Presidential Medal of Freedom
Woods has already won a major at Bethpage black, triumphing at the NY course in 2002 when it hosted the US Open. Woods reportedly will be Trump's guest next week , to celebrate his Masters win last month.

But, Carolina, who also got a goal from Andrei Svechnikov, has more of it.

And there will be questions, as there were for the Islanders, about how a team with that much time off will fare against a battle-hardened team coming out of a six- or seven-game series. "Our goal was to keep playing and be the best team". He had one goal all playoffs.

Jordan Eberle wasn't the only Islanders forward who didn't score in this series, but it stands out after the stellar first-round series Eberle had against the Penguins when he scored in each of the four games.

Only Mathew Barzal played more than either player at 5-on-5. NY is now the first team since 1993 to sweep one series and get swept in the very next.

In Game 3 of the series, the 35-year-old became the oldest goaltender in National Hockey League history to make his first-ever start in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. And starting goalie Petr Mrazek, day to day with a lower body injury that forced him from Game 2 of this series early, could benefit from the break. He was even better than what he showed in his 33 regular-season games, over which he went 20-11-2 posting a 2.58 goals-against average and a.912 save percentage. Barzal slipped behind Jaccob Slavin and poked the rebound of Devon Towes' shot past McElhinney for his second goal in three games.

The parent body suffered several large shocks from impacts, with one final shattering event that broke it apart. At one point, it encountered high temperatures that heated it to 1,000 or 1,500 degrees Fahrenheit.

You have to feel for Robin Lehner. He could also prove to be the Vezina Trophy victor, as he was named a finalist for the award annually given to the league's best goaltender. "We didn't want to go back to NY, that's for sure". NY head coach Barry Trotz suggested that he may sit Lehner and start Thomas Greiss in Game 4 as well as make some changes up front, but either way, the Islanders are done.

Fans are urged to cheer loudly when the Carolina Hurricanes host the New York Islanders in Game 4 Friday. If he came in and recorded yet another win, it probably would've planted a considerable-and much-needed-seed of doubt for the opposition. I don't know if you guys know, but we haven't practiced much recently.

The Islanders, who lost franchise player John Tavares to free agency last summer, were expected to be a team competing for the top position in the draft lottery. Never mind a playoff position. In Game 4, they punched their ticket by protecting a big lead they earned in the second period. A break is what they need more, nearly mentally.

But, on the bright side, the foundation has been laid for the Islanders to be a bear to contend with for years to come. This time, though, they were the ones left frustrated.

Lehner and Greiss each finished with eight saves for the Islanders.
