President Donald Trump on Monday railed against Democrats calling for his impeachment after the publication of special counsel Robert Mueller's partially redacted report last week, writing in a post on Twitter that "Only high crimes and misdemeanors can lead to impeachment".

Rosenstein was expected to leave the Justice Department after seeing the Mueller investigation through to its conclusion.

Barr wants lawmakers only to do the questioning and, according to a source close to the committee, has said he will not come in to testify based on where things now stand. Fox News learned over the weekend that Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., wanted to have committee staff question Barr on his handling of the report.

In the suit, filed in the federal courthouse in Manhattan in New York City, the president and his family members argue that the Democrat-controlled House committee leaders who issued subpoenas engaged in a broad overreach.

It was his first rally since the release of a redacted version of special counsel Robert Mueller's report into Russian interference in that election, but the U.S. president made no direct reference to it.
