Devin Nunes Files $250 Million Defamation Lawsuit Against Twitter

Twitter faces $250 million lawsuit over allegations it 'shadow bans' conservatives

Rep. Devin Nunes Is Suing Twitter And a Conservative Strategist For Millions. Here's Why.

The lawsuit seeks to hold Twitter equally accountable for the content because the social media platform "has a duty to exercise reasonable care to avoid hosting outwardly defamatory content", Fox News reported.

Nunes alleges that Twitter "shadow bans" conservatives - purportedly making their messages less visible - and failed to crack down on parody accounts such as "Devin Nunes' Mom" and "Devin Nunes' cow" which accused him of obstructing investigations into the president.

Of the Devin's Cow account, the lawsuit alleges the author unfairly dubbed the congressman "a treasonout cowpoke", and falsely claimed that "Devin's boots are full of manure".

On "Hannity", Nunes said the lawsuit against Twitter was "the first of many" to come.

Tuesday on MSNBC, network commentator Kasie Hunt reacted to Rep. Devin Nunes' (R-CA) defamation lawsuit against Twitter for "shadow-banning" conservatives, including Nunes.

"So if they're going to do that, then either own up to it and play big boy ball, which means you file all the reports or else let them be governed by the government", said the conservative commentator. "It is a modern-day Tammany Hall". "They're the main proliferator, and they spread this fake news and this slanderous news".

The complaint accused Liz Mair (@LizMair), a communications strategist according to her Twitter bio, of accepting money on behalf of clients to collect "oppo" on Nunes and to organize a smear campaign against him before and after his election.

'Between February 2018 and March 2019, Twitter allowed @DevinNunesMom to post hundreds of egregiously false, defamatory, insulting, abusive, hateful, scandalous and vile statements about Nunes, ' the lawsuit states.

NSCIA condemns New Zealand terrorist attacks
Erdoğan told supporters: "If New Zealand fails to hold the attacker accountable, one way or another we will hold him to account". He criticised the Republican People's Party's Kemal Kilicdaroglu for blaming Islam and Muslims for the attack.

The US congressman Devin Nunes sent the Twitterverse spiraling into hilarity late on Monday with his lawsuit listing the purported crimes of Twitter users "Devin Nunes' Mom" and "Devin Nunes' Cow".

The lawsuit goes on to say Mair lives in Virginia, which is a state where Twitter is allowed to conduct business aside from its DE office or California headquarters, according to the lawsuit. "They're regulating what people can see on my tweets, which they've done".

It didn't help Nunes' case that his attorneys never found the true identities behind "Devin Nunes' Mom" and "Devin Nunes' Cow", so pieces of the complaint read as if Nunes' actual mother and his cow were the perpetrators, turning the lawsuit into a parody of itself.

Nunes, who grew up on a dairy farm in the San Joaquin Valley, said the account @DevinCow made a number of false statements about him while employing cattle puns, including that he is "udder-ly worthless and its pasture time to move him to prison". But fear not, we will win anyway, just like we did before!' Trump tweeted.
