Amid talk that former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen again lied to Congress, Cohen's lawyer sent a letter Tuesday to the head of the House Oversight Committee clarifying Cohen's testimony that he never sought a pardon from the president.
The Democratic chairman of the House Oversight Committee said Wednesday that he will not attempt to punish Michael Cohen for misleading the committee last month when he claimed he'd never asked President Trump for a pardon.

Julien Stéphan n'a toutefois pas souhaité polémiquer concernant la décision de l'UEFA. C'est une deuxième bizarrerie après l'inversion des matches.
"In retrospect, while the sentence could have been clearer regarding the time frames, the sentence is true and Mr. Cohen stands by his statement", Michael Monico, Cohen's attorney wrote in the letter shared with TPM. Cohen's former lawyer, Stephen Ryan, also reportedly discussed a pardon with Trump's lawyers in the weeks after Federal Bureau of Investigation agents raided Cohen's home, office and hotel room. "Further, Mr. Cohen rejected the opportunity to ask for and receive a pardon even though he knew he was going to prison with hardships to his family".
Monico said Cohen had asked a prior lawyer to inquire about a possible pardon because Trump had "publicly dangled the possibility of pardons when commenting about ongoing investigations". "Nothing ever happened", he continued.
Monico denied Trump's claim, in a tweet last week, that Cohen had personally asked him for a pardon.

Monico explained, though, that Cohen's testimony "could have been clearer and more complete". That initial document did not include a reference to Cohen seeking a pardon from Trump, but it included six other references to times the pair believed Cohen committed perjury.
