Jack Grealish trained with his Aston Villa team-mates on Monday after being given £100 compensation from the fan who attacked him during Sunday's derby with Birmingham.

In a statement read to Birmingham Magistrates' Court, Grealish also said he was surprised how easy it was for Blues supporter Paul Mitchell to get on to the pitch and run towards him.

Grealish showed no ill effects from the incident before going on to score the only goal in his side's 1-0 victory. "There's a lot of hate amongst the fans and stuff, which is fine to an extent, but you shouldn't be able to come on the pitch and make contact with a player. After what happened in the first half I think it was set up for it".

Landon Collins' Redskins deal is a nightmare for Giants
But for Collins, jumping in the NFC East from the NewYork Giants to the Redskins wasn't even a tough decision. While Collins has talent, his average-at-best coverage makes this deal carry some extra risk.

The Football Association says "a line has been crossed" after the weekend saw incidents of pitch invasions at Birmingham and Arsenal.

The court heard a statement from Grealish that said: "Jack Grealish was shocked and scared because if this person was brazen enough to get onto the pitch, what else could he do?"

His strike was the ideal retribution for the attack he'd suffered earlier in the game, and Manchester City star Sterling tweeted his approval for the Villa man's match-winning finish, posting: "Karma at its best".

As he raced toward the celebrating Arsenal players, he pushed United defender Chris Smalling.

Aston Villa later released a statement which strongly condemned the incident. "We will be working closely with the Metropolitan Police in their investigation". "The individual will also be banned from Arsenal matches home and away".

Former Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie said the incident at St Andrew's was the worst of its kind that he had seen and backed Shearer's calls for urgent action.

Birmingham said it would assist investigators and review stadium safety procedures.

As things stand, the game remains 0-0.
