Ariana Grande’s new Japanese tattoo reads ‘barbecue grill’ instead of ‘7 Rings’

Nyle DiMarco's ASL Version of Ariana Grande's “7 Rings” Video Is Sexy and Educational

Ariana Grande makes Billboard history with another No. 1 hit

Debuting the fresh palm tattoo featuring two dainty Asian symbols, fans were quick to comment how ~cute~ the new addition looked - until fans pointed out that the symbols didn't actually mean "7 Rings" but rather a rough translation to describe a Japanese-style BBQ grill.

In the ideal response to accusations that the singer appropriates styles from non-white cultures for the sake of her brand, the 25-year-old flaunted a new tattoo commemorating the record-breaking success of "7 Rings". "I wouldn't have lasted one more symbole (sic) lmao".

"It hurt like f*** and still looks tight". Her response has since been deleted.

The explanation didn't stop Twitter users from having a field day over the news, with many claiming that they too would forever honour Japanese BBQs in the form of a tattoo. Grande says her mom inspired her dark lip color on the album's cover. The original picture of her new ink has also been deleted from her Instagram.

Grande also recently made headlines for covering up a tattoo of hers that celebrated her ex-fiance Pete Davidson's father - a cop who died on 9/11 - with a tribute to recently deceased singer Mac Miller, another one of her ex-boyfriends.

The palm tattoo was what Grande thought was "7 Rings" in Japanese.

"Yooooo this is a super weird photo".

Many of you are probably wondering how Ariana Grande could possibly get a tattoo that was misspelled, so let's start from the beginning. Singer Ed Sheeran memorably got "Galway Grill" inked instead of the real title of his track "Galway Girl". "She was meant to write down Galway Girl, and then I was like, it's gonna be amusing if you write something different and then she came up with Galway Grill", he explained in an interview in 2017 (via Metro).

Firstly, if we're talking about someone who understands a modicum of Japanese, then it's highly unlikely she'd purposefully omit the middle characters, considering they carry the entire meaning of the tattoo.

Getting a tattoo can sometimes be a hit or miss affair.

The text, however, translates to "small charcoal grill".

Navasard shared an image of the tattoo and tagged Grande back.
