The 31-year-old Argentina striker has joined on a loan deal until the end of the season, with Chelsea holding options to extend his stay if it is a success.

Since the start of the 2006-07 season, Higuain has scored a formidable 224 goals - a feat only bettered by five other players across Europe's top five leagues: Lionel Messi (394), Cristiano Ronaldo (391), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (245), Edinson Cavani (242) and Sergio Aguero (227).

Sarri has fond memories of his one previous season with Higuain when the striker scored a record 36 Serie A goals in a single campaign.

"Maurizio Sarri is the coach who, in my career, has got the best out of me as a player", Higuaín told chelseafc.com upon signing with the Blues. "It's a team I've always liked that has a lot of history, a wonderful stadium and they play in the Premier League, a league I've always wanted to play in", Higuain said in a statement on the Chelsea website.

"I now hope I can give back the trust Chelsea has shown. I can't wait to start and I hope to adapt as soon as possible".

"I think the club agree with me when I told them my opinion about [how to improve] the team".

"I think he has to do more", Sarri said of Hazard. Sometimes in one minute.

"He's a player who can score in many ways so we hope that he can bring his qualities to this team - at this moment it is very much necessary. It is not easy to get a new striker, a very important striker, in the January market".

Novak Djokovic sets up 2019 Australian Open final versus Rafael Nadal
The world No1 only needed 83 minutes to beat Frenchman Lucas Pouille 6-0 6-2 6-2 to reach a seventh Australian Open final. Djokovic said battles against Nadal over the years have made the Serb the player he is today.

"As I told you before, in the market in January it's very hard to secure a very important striker". He has to respect first of all himself.

Higuain joined the Blues on a temporary basis from the Bianconeri yesterday and the Argentine could make his debut against Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup fourth round this weekend.

Asked if the arrival of Higuain was a sign that the club are behind him, Sarri said: "I hope so".

"Now they've gone with Higuain, that means there's only one place Hazard's going to play in the 4-3-3 and that's off one of the sides".

Arsenal v Manchester United
His attitude has been spot on, so, hopefully, he'll enjoy the game. "Friday night will be a stern examination of both sets of defenders".

"You can't afford to play two games well and one game less good". He's an instinctive player. He wants the ball at his feet.

"Here there are the type of players will help him to do what he can do best".

"It's an opportunity. We play a game on our pitch and there are players who need to be rested and it could be an opportunity".
