Investigative Journalist, Who Exposed Soccer Corruption in Ghana, Shot Dead

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, has officially invited Member of Parliament for Assin Central, the Honorable Kennedy Agyapong over the murder of investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas partner, Mr Ahmed Hussein-Suale, has confirmed.

Ahmed Hussein-Suale was said to be on his way home when gunmen on a motorbike opened fire on his vehicle in Madina area of Accra, shooting him dead in three live rounds.

Nyantakyi resigned from all of his roles and was banned from soccer for life a year ago for bribery, corruption and conflict of interest as a result of the documentary.

"The alleged murder comes in the wake of reports of threats on members of Anas" team following last year's investigative documentary on bribery and corruption in Ghana and African football at large.

The team's most recent work focused on exposing corruption in African soccer, which they portray as a murky world of backroom meetings where coaches, referees and even the most senior officials can be bribed to fix games or hand out favors.

The director of the criminal investigations department, Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, said: "Our men are on the ground now gathering information".

Tiger Eye PI said Hussein-Suale's last project for it was the soccer documentary.

Mr Hussein-Suale was a key personnel amongst a team of undercover investigators working with Anas Aremeyaw Anas' Tiger Eye in Ghana.

Reacting to news of his death, Anas posted an old video in which the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong was issuing threats and asking people to harm the late Ahmed if they come across him because he was a risky person. The station also broadcast photographs of Hussein-Suale, apparently revealing his identity.
