Teen crashes in Layton while doing 'Bird Box' Challenge

Police say a teenager participating in the latest viral challenge is responsible for a crash on Layton Parkway and will face reckless driving charges.

The "Bird Box" challenge, which has gone viral on social media, is inspired by the Netflix movie "Bird Box", starring Sandra Bullock.

Police told KSL that the driver, a 17-year-old girl, was driving the pickup truck seen in the photos above on Monday when the incident occurred. In the movie, characters have to move about the outside world wearing blindfolds to avoid looking at an unseen monster that forces people to kill themselves. Shortly after the release of the movie, some people started sharing images of them doing various tasks while blindfolded with the hashtag #BirdBoxChallenge.

It would appear that not everyone is heeding the streaming service's words.

While nobody was injured, it's safe to say that driving a auto while blindfolded is definitely the opposite of a good idea.
