Overall, the program is estimated to cost $100 million per year.

He ruled-out raising taxes but conservatives, such as the chairmen of the Conservative Party of NY, have their doubts about the feasibility of the mayor's health care program.

According to the mayor's office, 600,000 New Yorkers without insurance will benefit from the program.

The mayor unveiled the program at a news conference at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx after first announcing in on MSNBC's "Morning Joe".

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) announced Tuesday that the city would roll out an unprecedented initiative offering free health care to all residents - including illegal immigrants. The new plan provides insurance for visits to doctors outside of hospitals; health experts say that access to regular medical visits can cut down on costly hospital stays.

As many as 500,000 would be affected. "Get the healthcare you need when you need it".

While some have expressed concerns about the decision to pay for the care of undocumented residents, many couldn't move past the improbable math provided by the city in its explanation about how it will pay for the coverage. What do they all have in common? This plan will give all of that directly to the people who don't have it in the city'. Eric Phillips, de Blasio's spokesman, claimed this program is for direct coverage. They have a name, an address.

Help will be available at all hours, said Palacio. They need it right now.

Supporters of Inslee's plan didn't immediately reveal cost estimates for the proposal, but the governor said "we need to write another chapter of health care reform".

Thank you @NYCMayor for your commitment to cover all NYC residents, including those who are undocumented; this is a big step in the right direction-but healthcare is still a human right, and must be extended to everyone in the state!
