Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri's first-choice preference to add firepower to his squad is thought to be Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain, who is now on loan at AC Milan.

The 31-year-old Argentina worldwide reportedly wants to join his former Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri at the English club, who would take over Milan's option to eventually make the deal permanent.

"This deal is complicated as when Milan took him on loan from Juventus, they paid a £16million loan fee and agreed to buy him outright for £32m in the summer".

Sarri's preference is to be reunited with Higuain - who enjoyed his most prolific ever season under the Italian - though any deal is complicated by the forward now being on loan at AC Milan from Juventus.

In his November 21 return to Quicken Loans Arena to face the Cavs, he delivered 32 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists. The Lakers are now eighth in the Western Conference with a 21-19 record, having won just three of their last 10 games.

Marca reports that Chelsea have contacted AC Milan about the Argentinian who scored 36 goals for Sarri when the pair were together at Napoli.

Higuain previously spent six years at Real Madrid after starting his career at River Plate in Argentina.

Higuain had been hampered by a back injury earlier in the season but broke his two-month goal-scoring drought before the winter break.

Higuain is now on loan at AC Milan, but the 31-year-old has struggled for form, with just eight goals in 20 appearances this season.
