Fresh Prince star Alfonso Ribeiro suing Epic over Fortnite dance

Fresh Prince star sues Epic over Fortnite’s use of the Carlton dance

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air's Alfonso Ribeiro sues Epic over Fortnite's 'Fresh' emote

Alfonso Ribeiro, who played Carlton Banks in the early '90s television sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (also starring Will Smith), is reportedly not happy about how the developer reappropriated his moves and is now suing the company.

In a slightly more well-known case, Fresh Prince of Bel Air star Alfonso Ribeiro also claims that the game has stolen his "Carlton Dance". He is asking the court for damages and that both companies stop profiting from the dance.

Fortnite is one of the most popular video games in the world and allows players to perform the "Carlton dance".

Epic Games and Take Two Interactive did not immediately reply to HuffPost's request for comment.

Michael Flynn's business partners charged with illegal lobbying for Turkey
Ekim Alptekin , a Turkish businessman regarded as close to Erdoğan, was also charged in the indictment, the filing shows. The charges against Bijan Kian and Ekim Alptekin were unsealed Monday in Virginia court, the New York Times reports .

"It is widely recognised that Mr Ribeiro's likeness and intellectual property have been misappropriated by Epic Games in the most popular video game now in the world, Fortnite", Ribeiro's lawyer David Hecht told HuffPost in statement.

He is the latest star to attack Fortnite makers Epic Games over its use of musicians' and actors' dance moves.

Fortnite launched as a free game in 2017, but specific add-ons, including "emotes", or dance moves, cost money.

"Epic can not profit from Ribeiro's hard-earned fame by its intentional misappropriation of Ribeiro's original content and likeness", according to the suit.

OL - Barça : "C’est du lourd !"
On jouera notre chance à fond, même si on sait que Barcelone est favori. "Mais on en est capables". En plus privé à l'aller de Nabil Fekir , suspendu, Lyon est condamné à l'exploit.

This certainly isn't the first time an actor has taken aim at Epic for jacking a dance.

For example, he alleges the game took dances from Snoop Dogg and rapper 2 Milly, who already filed a lawsuit against "Fortnite" for allegedly stealing his "Swipe" dance.

Alfonso Ribeiro is suing two video game developers for allegedly using his signature dance, "The Carlton" without his permission. "Black creatives created and popularized these dances but never monetized them".

Also, rapper 2 Milly issued a lawsuit also against Epic Games for misappropriation of his dance "Milly Rock". The problem is "Fresh" and other emotes can be purchased using in-game currency that can be obtained by spending real money.
