"New CS:GO players will receive access to all game modes, matchmaking, and a limited set of item drops and weapon cases". Valve announced that the free-to-play game is receiving its own battle royale mode, titled "Danger Zone". I'm going to assume that the free-to-play aspect is proving more popular with new players than the battle royale, but I imagine jumping on that bandwagon can't have hurt.
With the shift to being Free-to-Play, Valve has also given all players who purchased it previously Prime Status. The mode will be installed automatically when players login to the game. "Play solo, or work together as a squad of two or three!" Wads of cash can be found scattered in the environment and you can also bring hostages to rescue zones for extra dosh like in classic Counter-Strike. And though there are similarities between DZ and a traditional CS:GO match, like the cash system to buy weapons, there's an equal amount of differences. It's probably there mainly as a fun mode for players and something we could see on stage at big events in a showmatch capacity.
Though not explicitly stated on the website, it appears CS:GO remains a paid title on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and no announcement was made for Danger Zone to hit those consoles.
Each Danger Zone match lasts about ten minutes. With Prime Status you will be matched against others with this and have a chance of getting Prime-exclusive items.
UFC 231: Holloway vs. Ortega Weigh-in Replay
It followed a breathless exhibition of pressure striking that overwhelmed the American challenger. Ortega came back in the third, connected with punches and nearly got Holloway to the ground.
Players are also encouraged to use their arsenal wisely. New mode Danger Zone's page makes it sound speedy compared to other battle royales too. That's not to say its choices end up in bad games - Artifact seems great so far - but if you're looking for innovation, it comes from elsewhere.
Valve's 30% cut was not setting well with developers. The cut will fall to 20% after the game hits $50 million in revenue. The game will have drones sending down packages, similar to supply drops on PUBG and Fortnite.
