Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Joe Gomez suffered an ankle injury during Liverpool's 3-1 win at Burnley on Wednesday night.

"We have to make sure we are ready, that was clear before the season, that we have to be ready every three days". You get the ball, nice, but it's like bowling because you get the player as well.

"We were a bit unlucky with the first goal, he (Joe Hart)'s off-side, and we don't get a block, but they're a good side and we put in a good performance".

Although a couple of tackles were borderline - for instance, when Phil Bardsley appeared to go over the top of the ball on Alberto Moreno - in the main Burnley just made sure they did not back out of any challenges and it had the desired effect as Liverpool could not settle. Aggression is a part of football.

White House chief of staff John Kelly expected to resign within days
Compounding the rumors were reports surrounding Kelly taking the day off on Friday, as the president traveled to Missouri. The move could be announced at a scheduled White House dinner tonight with Trump and senior White House staff.

Xherdan Shaqiri ensured Liverpool moved back to within two points of Pep Guardiola's side with a clinical counter-attack goal moments after Alisson had saved superbly to deny Ben Mee.

Alisson Becker only half-saved the Woods' deflection from James Tarkowski's header at a corner and in the six-yard-area scramble that followed Cork reacted quickest to poke the ball home.

Klopp and Burnley manager Sean Dyche appeared to have a disagreement at the final whistle, although both managers declined to comment on what happened. It's all good. I think he has scored seven so far in the league. I thought we were effective.

Liverpool fell behind but within 15 minutes they were in front, Van Dijk playing a key role in their victor.

Speaking to Sport Bladet (as translated by Sport Witness), the Swede said: "If I'd been an Everton player, I'd have knocked him down, I think".

"The shape was really good tonight, the energy and endeavour and also the will to win because that was there right the way through the last breath".

"Reacting like we did at a tough place like Turf Moor, that's special", added Klopp, whose gamble in making seven changes and resting Mohamed Salah and Firmino with Sadio Mane out injured paid off.

"We controlled the game in a lot of moments".
