Denny Hamlin Takes Pole For Sunday's Ford EcoBoost 400 Championship Race

Truex 'Eye for an eye' if Logano is ahead

NASCAR sputters toward checkered flag on troubled season

Logano won the season finale Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway to grab his first Cup championship in a season in which he barely contended until the playoffs began.

He passed Truex with 12 laps remaining and pulled away to win for Roger Penske, the auto owner who celebrated this year his election into the NASCAR Hall of Fame, a 17th victory in the Indianapolis 500 and now a second title in NASCAR's top series. His average finish is 8.43 while Harvick's is 9.00, Logano's is 10.94 and Truex Jr.'s is 10.97.

The 28-year-old driver now has 21 career wins and ond one NASCAR Cup championship. "I wasn't sure we were going to get it but Todd [Gordon, crew chief] made a good adjustment at the end and we had that no-quit attitude". "I don't know what to say", Logano said.

Hamlin, who is winless this season, and crew chief Mike Wheeler had the traditional first choice of pit stalls because Hamlin posted the fastest qualifying lap. It's his final race with Furniture Row Racing, which lost its sponsorship and will close shop after the finale.

"Really proud of everybody on our team for fighting hard this year to get where we were", Truex said.

"I don't think a whole bunch transfers over". "I guess we didn't have enough speed there". It's just the standards we have for ourselves.

Woman killed, 47 injured during fuel tax protest, French officials say
In January the price of diesel is set to go up by seven cents a litre, and petrol by three cents. Drivers in France are protesting rising fuel taxes by blocking roads across the country.

In the lead-up to Sunday's season-ending Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, driver Joey Logano referred to the four remaining championship contenders as, "The big three and me".

Only one problem: The sun went down.

Busch and Harvick have matched each other win-for-win all season, and even though NASCAR penalized Harvick's team, Busch is not alone in wondering if the entire season is tainted. "If the roles were reversed, I think we would hope for the same thing".

"We did it! We won the championship!"

"Our strong point was not the restarts tonight", he said.

Despite the loose handling condition, Harvick was in position to challenge for the win in the late going.

Stan Lee laid to rest at private funeral
Why?" Maher has yet to comment on his controversial post and the backlash it has received. And he expressed his annoyance in a blog post about the reactions to Stan Lee's death.

Three of the four Championship 4 drivers - Kyle Busch, Joey Logano and Martin Truex Jr. - will be starting in the top-5 on Sunday. But it came down to the short run and we are champions.

It was Busch who said losing the title would be most disappointing if it went to Logano because Logano wasn't in the same league as the Big Three all season. He just didn't have the vehicle to take advantage of it. #78 Martin Truex Jr is the defending NASCAR champion and might be the feel-good story of this year's championship four.

With Busch in the lead, the serendipitous yellow flag flew on Lap 247 when Suarez's Toyota went for a spin off the bumper of Keselowski's Ford.

Busch said Friday he thought the idea would get shot down as it did for Truex, and Hamlin didn't seem eager to give up his prize.

The victor of eight races this season, Busch had to settle for fourth at the finish.

"We weren't even close", said Busch, who used strategy to keep up with the other title contenders. "On the long runs, just couldn't enter the corner, and we were getting smoked entering the corners and not being able to turn the steering wheel".

ATP Cup best way to kick-start season: Djokovic
It's not an ATP land grab or anything like that. "Australia is a country that has a Grand Slam, that nurtures tennis tradition. Qualification for the tournament will be based on the highest ATP ranking of the number one singles player from each country.

"Hopefully, it all just comes back full circle. Just when you're half a second off, you're not going to hold anybody back". Busch didn't think his luck would be any better.
