New Polling Shows Arizona McSally/Sinema Race Back to a Dead Heat

Arizona's nationally-watched and incredibly tight Senate race between Republican Martha McSally and Democrat Kristin Sinema may not have a declared victor until Thursday or even next week because, ironically, the state's voters like to cast their ballots early.

It was an election destined to make history: two female lawmakers nominated by major parties in a state that has never elected a woman to the Senate before.

More than 600,000 votes were uncounted in a race where more than 2 million people cast ballots. "We think Martha McSally leads in that vote by about 949 votes, based on what we know about those counties and the votes counted so far".

The avid triathletes are battling over the seat vacated by Sen. Jeff Flake, a Republican openly critical of Trump, announced his retirement.

"This is so high-stakes", said McSally of a race now in a dead heat, according to the polls.

This September, her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller , died of an accidental overdose caused by mixing drugs and alcohol. She finished the performance with a smile, and danced down the aisles of the set while the audience cheered.

But by 11 p.m. on election night, attendees at the Arizona Democratic Party's event at the Renaissance Hotel in Phoenix began to dwindle. "If it were up to Sinema - drugs, crime and illegal traffic will be flowing into Arizona at an ever increasing pace".

Republican Gov. Doug Ducey was easily re-elected over a challenge from Democrat David Garcia, a college education professor. But she started the race on the defensive over her vote to repeal ObamaCare.

Sinema, on the other hand, opted out of campaigning with high-profile Democrats throughout the campaign.

Though she has since embraced the president, her earlier criticism hobbled her during this year's three-way Republican primary for Senate, when challengers attacked her as insufficiently supportive of the president. She's reportedly voted in-line with Trump more than 62 percent of the time.

"The health care issue has been distorted and used against Republicans coast to coast", said host Laura Ingraham, noting that Sinema, McSally's former anti-war Green Party activist opponent, had been hitting her particularly hard on this topic.
Both candidates said nothing publicly Tuesday night as the ballots were slowly counted. She remained optimistic about a Sinema victory.

"A lot of our faithful voters still haven't turned their early ballots back in", the congresswoman said.

"But I would add a sixth C. It's called insane", she said.

"We want to see any semblance of a blue wave - whether it's just a trickle, or anything - to take over control and hold somebody in check", Glass said in an interview.

Ahead of the election, Fox News ranked the race as one of five toss-ups for the Senate.

Trump, who won the state by 4 points in 2016, has a 52 percent approval rating and 47 percent disapproval rating.
