The new skipper isn't the only addition to the Rangers' front office this offseason.

After a managerial search that included as many as 17 potential or rumored candidates, the Rangers have reportedly found their next manager, hiring Chris Woodward, who had most recently been in the employ of the Los Angeles Dodgers as their third-base coach, a job he had held for the past three seasons. Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY was the first to report.

With Texas, Woodward stands to take over a team that doesn't profile as a contender in 2019 but does have some compelling young talent on the roster such as Nomar Mazara, Rougned Odor, Joey Gallo, Willie Calhoun, Ronald Guzman and Jurickson Profar.

Daniels has hired three managers in his 13 seasons as the Rangers GM, and all were first-time Major League Baseball managers.

He led the Rangers to consecutive division titles to begin his tenure, but Texas lost 172 games over his final two seasons. Woodward was brought in during their second batch of interviews after Woodward and the Dodgers completed the World Series. Woodward is also the coach you see giving signals to the batter from the dugout in between every pitch.

Since that time, Woodward has worked in both the Mariners and Dodgers organizations. He started his coaching career as minor league infield coordinator for the Mariners in 2013, then joined their big league staff later that year. Woodward's managerial experience is comprised of leading New Zealand in the 2017 World Baseball Classic qualification tournament in Australia in 2016.
