Khashoggi killing: Erdogan accuses 'highest levels' of Saudi gov't

Istanbul demands Saudis reveal whereabouts of Khashoggi's body

Riyadh initially claimed Khashoggi left freely after visiting the consulate in Istanbul on October 2.

"Our pain is still as fresh as the first day", she said.

The outcry in the US demonizing Saudi Arabia over the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the Kingdom's consulate in Istanbul threatens US-Saudi strategic ties, the former Saudi intelligence chief warned on Wednesday.

On Thursday, US State Department deputy spokesman Robert Palladino told reporters that Khashoggi's remains should be located and returned to his family for a burial as soon as possible.

"If democracy was well functioning and fear was not dominating, Turkey would stand up [protest]", he said.

There is still no consensus on how Khashoggi died.

Chelsea boss Sarri announces Loftus-Cheek loan decision
Chelsea fans are behind midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek perhaps more than any other player at Stamford Bridge right now. Andreas Christensen and Gary Cahill "could have done better" in the words of assistant manager Gianfranco Zola.

Khashoggi, a critic of Saudi rulers, was killed after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2.

Hatice Cengiz made her appeal in a video message to a memorial in Washington where friends and activists marked one month since Khashoggi's death and paid tribute to his advocacy for democratic change in the Arab world.

When he first disappeared, it said Khashoggi had walked out of the building alive. While Saudi authorities have admitted that the journalist's murder was premeditated, the body has yet to be found.

"Though Riyadh has detained 18 suspects, it is deeply concerning that no action has been taken against the Saudi consul general, who lied through his teeth to the media and fled Turkey shortly afterward", Erdogan's op-ed continues. Turkey wants them extradited. "His invitation for Turkish investigators to Saudi Arabia for more talks about the case felt like a desperate and deliberate stalling tactic".

Abdulhamit Gul added that Saudi Arabia must co-operate in the investigation into the murder of Mr Khashoggi in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul and there must be no further cover-up.

Saudi Arabia faces sharp criticism from the global community in the wake of the death.

Actor Alec Baldwin charged with assault over parking fight
Baldwin was released from a nearby precinct in Manhattan's Greenwich Village neighborhood about two hours after the incident. The charges were still pending, but police said officers had responded to a 911 call of an assault on East 10th Street.

"The president said we will demand accountability for those who were involved in the commission of this heinous crime", Pompeo said. However, he also said he was unwilling to sacrifice lucrative arms deals with the country.

"We need to see Jamal Khashoggi's killers brought to justice - not only those who actually carried out the murder, but those who ordered it and knew it was about to happen", Allen said.

USA activists have launched a petition, calling for a section of road near the Saudi embassy in Washington to be renamed Jamal Khashoggi Way.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says it may be a "handful more weeks" before the U.S. has enough evidence to impose sanctions on those responsible for Khashoggi's murder.

"The UK needs to completely re-appraise its relationship with Saudi Arabia, moving on from its failed softly-softly "engagement" approach to one where ministers raise human rights openly and frankly with their counterparts in Riyadh", she said.

Forensics experts have questioned the theory, as they say disposing of a body using acid can take months.
