An Oregon man resisting the sale of his home left booby traps on the property-including one apparently inspired by Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Officers were asked to visit the home in OR on 7 September by an estate agent tasked with selling the property.

A man in OR is being charged with assault on a federal officer after an FBI agent sent to the property was shot by ammunition that came from a booby-trapped wheelchair, the Associated Press reported.

Rodvelt has now been charged with assault after the Federal Bureau of Investigation went to the house a the request of a local real estate lawyer.

Other traps were found throughout the house - including spike strips.

"A criminal complaint read: "(It was) much like a scene from the movie Indiana Jones: "Raiders Of The Lost Ark in which actor Harrison Ford is forced to outrun a giant stone boulder that he inadvertently triggered by a booby trap switch".

After making it past the hot tub, a bomb squad and Federal Bureau of Investigation agent approached the house and blasted open the fortified front door.

The agent screamed, "I'm hit!" and was rushed to the hospital, where an X-ray discovered a shotgun pellet in his leg, Oregon Live reported.

Authorities said the makeshift weapons were created by Gregory Rodvelt, who was forced to forfeit his property as part of an elder abuse case involving his mother.

Police found Rodvelt near a grocery store later that day, where he told them, "I would not race right in" to the house, according to the Mail Tribune. He had been in jail in OR after an armed standoff with authorities in April a year ago but was released for two weeks in August to prepare the property to be turned over, according to court documents.

He has refused a court-appointed defence lawyer, the Mail Tribune in OR reported.

According to The Oregonian, Rodvelt, who was already being held in an Arizona prison on other charges, was given a two-week release in mid-August so he could make preparations to turn over the property.
