Croatian global and Real Madrid midfielder, Luka Modric, has been named the best European player by the continent's football governing body, UEFA.

He won the Champions League for a third straight year with Real Madrid before winning the Golden Ball at the World Cup after a string of excellent performances helped Croatia reach the final.

Modrić picked up this latest accolade on stage in Monaco during the 2018/19 group stage draw.

Modric, meanwhile, was seen as the brain behind Real's four trophies and was named the Player of the Tournament at the Club World Cup as well as the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where his team Croatia finished as runners-up.
